This Image Guide has been produced by Air Force Communication and Reputation Management to assist all sources who intend to use any of the Air Force identities, in the preparation of material in line with Air Force corporate image and branding. It outlines the application and usage of each logo and other elements of the visual identity, guidelines for creating the corporate ‘look and feel’ of Air Force.

Air Force has three readily identifiable logos or corporate images - the RAAF Badge and the RAAF Roundel and a logotype style, which uses the Roundel in the wording of ‘Air Force’, being utilised primarily as our ’public image’. Copyright restrictions apply to the use of any Air Force logo, including all Base or Unit Badges. When applying any of the Air Force logos to media or material, the guidelines in this Guide must be followed.

One version of Air Force logo, (depending on the particular use), must appear on Air Force promotional material, publications or other items in which Air Force has a stake. For example, if Air Force sponsors or funds an event, or in cases involving a cooperative advertising partner.

All logos must be reproduced exactly in the formats outlined in this Guide (RAAF Badge format applies to all Unit Badges). The logos must never be traced, re-drawn or modified in any way. Various components of any of the logos may not be taken out, used in isolation, expanded, condensed, changed or manipulated in any way. Colours and gradient percentages may not be changed, except as indicated in this guide.

Co-branding with the Australian Government/Defence corporate identity is not permitted unless absolutely necessary and will be considered on a case by case basis

All Air Force visual identities are very critical profile tools. Both inside and outside the organisation a visual identity is an effective communicator of Air Force’s goals and achievements. The way in which each of our logos and visuals is used will help convince the public and our own people of the valuable role Air Force plays in the broader community. Whether the material / product is being produced internally or externally, please forward a proof ,(via email or post), of the product/s to Air Force Communication and Reputation Management prior to full production and / or delivery.

A reminder to anyone considering using any Air Force identity:

  • Components of any of the logos may not be taken out, used in isolation, expanded, condensed, changed or manipulated in any way.
