ADF Pilot Selection Agency
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Pilot Selection
Agency in Tamworth, NSW, is responsible for coordinating the final
three components of the ADF pilot selection process for the Navy, Army and Air Force:
The ADF Pilot Selection Agencys role begins after recruitment. The subjects and grades you need to apply are detailed in our education requirements for each Australian state and territory.
The Flight Screening Program is run by Air Force
Training Group. The ADF Pilot Selection Agency ensures timely and
efficient panelling of Flight Screening Program courses and is the
primary user of the results.
On completion of Officer Selection Board, selected
applicants are placed in a pool of applicants deemed suitable for
pilots courses. Sometimes applicants are recommended for a Service that
was not their first choice; it is their choice whether they accept the
alternative offer or stay in the pool awaiting selection by their
preferred Service.
The ADF Pilot Selection Agency works with Defence Force Recruiting,
pre- and post-Flight Screening Program, to ensure the best possible
applicants are selected. An applicant successful at the Defence Force
Recruiting stage will be held in the pre-Flight Screening Program pool
for a maximum of 12 months awaiting selection. An applicant successful
at both Flight Screening Program and the Officer Selection Board will
be held in the distribution pool for a maximum of
another 12 months. If they have not been selected by a Service after
that time, their file is returned to their Defence Force Recruiting
centre.
The ADF Pilot Selection Agency was established in January 2002 as a
detachment of the Directorate of Personnel Officers - Air Force.
