Restoration Progress Reports

The fabrication work on the moulds to produce left and right hand repair sections for the missing rear section have been completed, final dimensional checks are now under way. Clamping straps have been made and the first inner skin is being manufactured. Work continues on the jig for the main wing attach points, as does the sorting out and restoration of parts for the systems, furnishings and ancillary structure of the fuselage;
Canopy
Work on the canopy glass is well under way with many of the original perspex pieces having been repaired and polished. It has been determined that the panels the Museum possesses are from the unpainted canopy frame, work is now commencing on this frame.
Propellers
The blades have had corrosion ground out and filled with “Devcon”, Alodined and primed. Final surface filling and finishing is now under way.
