A36 Boeing BBJ
The Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) is one of the new aircraft that have replaced the Falcon 900 and Boeing 707s as the VIP fleet for the RAAF. Based on the Boeing 737 airliner, the BBJ has the capacity to seat 36 passengers or an executive configuration of 30 (allowing for conference tables). The BBJ introduces a new capability for long-distance international travel, able to fly almost anywhere in the world from Australia with only one stop.
The BBJ is employed for flying government leaders and senior executives travelling on official business. Qantas Defence Services carries out maintenance of the aircraft, while RAAF No 34 Squadron personnel continue to operate the aircraft.
